Celebrating Beauty and Style
..Enter Marie Antoinette's playhouse and discover a visual feast of all things French, Luxurious, Whimsical, Fashionable and Frothy.....
After surviving her head roll ordeal, Marie Antoinette took the first ship out to the far ends of the earth, Africa. She arrived here and found a place on the West Coast of Southern Africa called Jacobsbaai.
Her companions moved her to a lovely stone and rock house, called
Marie Antoinette's Playhouse
Fortunately her secret collection of royal jewels came on a separate ship and could be sent to her home immediately on arrival. Her companion staff built a secret underground vault under the foundations of her home, where the jewelry was kept all this time until the vault was opened, and the amazing jewelry re-discovered. An amazing collection is now available from her home, Marie Antoinette's Playhouse
Years later as she had to sell some of her jewelry to survive and she missed them terribly. So to the collaborations with jewelers and designers to create new commotions for jewels and collections.
One day she was mourning her situation when a WESKUS auntie, Tant Sannie suggested she started making her own. Crochet jewels! And with the help of Tant Sannie who taught her the magic of crochet – she made her own collection of fabulous crochet jewelry, some very delicate, some hair clips, rings earrings and off course tiaras and crowns. Available at her home (Marie Antoinette's Playhouse or on Instagram @tulle_du_jour.
Standing on the beach, pondering her life and reliving how privileged she was doing life in this beautiful place, she was thinking by herself how much she would love to share her fortune with. She felt lonely and alone. In the distance, she saw what she thought was a vision. A horse galloping in the wave in the distance. Beautiful white and running along side of the horse, a glimmering black dog. When they came closer she saw there was a man riding the horse. He stopped and jumped off, and she was mesmerized by his demeanour. Dressed in a short khaki pair of pants and a 2 tone shirt. His thighs were as strong as the oldest tree trunks on her property, his black hair as the coal from her fire that was suddenly burning inside her. His eyes blue as the cold weskus sea.
He introduces himself as Sarel vd Merwe, Farmer from Moreesburg, his dog Angel and his mare, Devil-Lynn. Finding her breath, she introduces herself and there, right there Marie Antoinette's biggest love story begins.
Back home, she immediately orders her chambermaids to buy as many bridal gowns from France as they could, for she could see a wedding taking place in her very near future.
Many years later this cache of wedding dresses was re-discovered and . With the dresses, tapestries, and vintage velvet, all from France were added and re-made. And re-fashioned into pieces like blouses, bustiers, flowers, handbags and more.
